EXPERIMENTAL LP WORKSHOP
When you dive into the abstract visions of masterclass students, you pass on knowledge and in exchange you get back inspiration.
Under the umbrella of renowned graphic designer and tutor Andreas Zarzar, we developed a crossmedial workshop with a focus on typography and urban space in learning and exploring lightpainting techniques.

The topic was completely new territory for the students, which is why we divided the workshop series into three blocks and I started with an introduction to the topic through a lecture on the history of experimental longtime-exposure lightpainting in photography.
​
After the theory part, the students were asked to work out their own ideas in teams, in order to switch to practical implementation in the second and third part based on our teams online conversation and file sharing discussions with their different thematic implementations.

The second block was implemented on the Linz Donaulände and, in addition to the visual exploration and staging of the metal sculpture park, also included typography (pixel stick), the use of different techniques such as fiberglass brushes, tubes, lighting and the pyrotechnic use of steelwool and led to very different but impressive results.

The third part included the indoor staging in the studio with product photography, portrait shootings with fiberglas brushes, typography and ABC blade experiments and free painting with LED-strips and single LED bulps. Check out the best results in the gallery.

Unter der Feder des renommierten Grafikdesigners und Tutors Andreas Zarzer entwickelte ich für die MKD Linz einen mehrteiligen crossmedialen Workshop mit den Schwerpunkten Typografie und urbanem Raum zum Erlernen und Erkunden von Lightpainting-Foto-Techniken.

Das Thema war absolutes Neuland für die Studenten, weshalb wir die Workshop-Reihe in drei Blöcke gliederten und ich mit einer Einführung in die Thematik durch einen Vortrag über die Geschichte der experimentellen Langzeitbelichtung in der Fotografie begann.

Nach dem Theorie-Teil waren die StudentInnen aufgefordert, in Teams eigene Ideen auszuarbeiten, um im zweiten und dritten Teil anhand der mittels Teams-Konversation und Filesharing Besprechung mit ihren unterschiedlich thematischen Umsetzungen in die praktische Umsetzung zu wechseln.

Der zweite Block wurde an der Linzer Donaulände umgesetzt und beinhaltete neben der bildlichen Auseinandersetzung und Inszenierung des Metall-Skulpturenparks auch die Einbeziehung von Typografie (Pixelstick), die Anwendung unterschiedlicher Techniken wie Fiberglas Brushes, Tubes, Ausleuchtung und auch den pyrotechnischen Einsatz von Stahlwolle und führte zu ganz unterschiedlichen aber beeindruckenden Ergebnissen.

Der dritte Teil beinhaltet die Indoor-Inszenierung im Studio mit Produktfotografie, Portrait-Aufnahmen mit Fiberglas-Brushes, typografie und ABC Experimenten und freiem Malen mit LED-Ketten und Licht. Die besten Ergebnisse sind hier in der Gallerie zu sehen.
